Council clarifies rules for medication coverage and co-payment rates

The Council of Health Insurance has emphasized that beneficiaries’ awareness of their rights, obligations, and entitlements is essential to achieving better health coverage.

In a statement on X, the council explained that the mechanism for dispensing medications is designed to ensure the most suitable choice for patients, with drugs provided using their generic names (active ingredients) in accordance with approved regulations.

The council noted that the co-payment rate for generic drugs ranges from 0% to 20%, while for innovative drugs it ranges from 0% to 50%.

It added that if an alternative is unavailable, the available substitute is dispensed according to established guidelines.

The Council of Health Insurance encouraged everyone to download the Daman app to benefit from its services.

The council added that the app offers a range of services and comprehensive data, and allows users to submit suggestions, inquiries, reports, and complaints.

Through the Daman app, users can also view policy categories, dependents, approvals, and the medical network.

The council previously confirmed that the mandatory health insurance policy guarantees beneficiaries a maximum co-payment limit, which is the amount the beneficiary is required to pay for covered services.
