UN P5 members condemn Houthi cross-border attacks against Saudi Arabia

The United Nation Security Council (UNSC) five permanent members ambassadors met with Saudi Ambassador to Yemen and expressed support for the current efforts of UN Special Envoy to Yemen and condemned the Houthi cross-border attacks against Saudi Arabia

A joint statement issued Wednesday, following the meeting that took place between the ambassadors of the P5 members of the Security Council to Yemen, and the Saudi Ambassador to Yemen, as follows:

"On Nov. 10, the P5 Heads of Mission met the ambassador of Saudi Arabia Mohammed Al Jabir.

"In the meeting, they discussed support for the current efforts of the UN Special Envoy and the need for a political solution under UN auspices, as well as support for the legitimate government.

"They condemned the Houthi cross-border attacks against Saudi Arabia. They stressed the need for de-escalation, including an immediate end to the escalation in Marib.

"All Yemeni parties should engage in genuine dialogue in order to reach comprehensive political solution to end the crisis in Yemen and alleviate the humanitarian suffering of its people."
