Minister of Transport and Logistics Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser said that studies are under way to extend the North Railway to Tabuk region along with other northern regions of the Kingdom.

"Linking the Tabuk region with the railway is currently in the phase of studies in accordance with the strategies and plans," he said while attending a function of opening new development projects in the Tabuk region.

Tabuk Emir Prince Fahd Bin Sultan inaugurated the projects in the presence of the minister; and senior officials of the transport and logistics system at the ministry.

Under the plan, the North Railway will be extended to Tabuk region. The North Train has already extended from Riyadh to Al-Qurayyat with a length of 1,215 km. Al-Qurayyat Train will start operations in March 2022.

The 320-km Al-Jouf and Al-Qurayyat Railway represents the fourth and final phase of the operation of the North Railway.

Al-Jasser said that the Tabuk region is witnessing the implementation of a number of major projects in the field of transportation; at a cost of more than SR800 million.

The minister noted that his visit to the Tabuk region comes as part of resolving issues related to stalled projects.

The region has a road network of more than 4,000 kilometers at present; and this will be further expanded with more roads; Al-Jasser said while adding that the national strategy for transport and logistics; launched by Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman last month, includes many development projects in the Tabuk region.
