Saudi traffic authority outlines right-of-way rules to boost road safety

The General Directorate of Traffic has emphasized the importance of adhering to right-of-way rules, noting that giving priority to eligible vehicles and road users helps enhance road safety and reduce accidents.

According to the authority’s official account on X, “Right of way is given to vehicles traveling on main roads, to vehicles approaching from the right at intersections of equal priority, and to pedestrians crossing at designated paths.”

The statement added that “priority also applies to vehicles coming from other directions when making a U-turn, to public transport vehicles in their designated lanes, and to official convoys and emergency vehicles.”

The Traffic Directorate also stressed the need to give priority to vehicles already in the lane when changing lanes, to those on open roads when part of the road is closed, and to vehicles inside roundabouts.
