Saudi transport authority issues first 32 logistics service licenses

President of the Transport General Authority Dr. Rumaih bin Muhammad Al-Rumaih has handed over, during the logistic license inauguration ceremony, the first 32 logistic licenses for several international and local companies. The small and medium enterprises have investments in the logistic services sector in Saudi Arabia.

The issuance of logistic licenses is important as the strategic sector is witnessing a big growth and turnout thanks to the factors and elements Saudi Arabia enjoys, including its central geographical location, its openness to international markets and the increasing demand and turnout on goods through e-commerce. This necessitated restructuring and organizing the sector in a way that accords with the requirements of the current era and the future so as to guarantee the development of the transport and logistics industry.

The Transport General Authority stressed that licensing logistics activities includes all logistics services that were merged into one activity with the aim of facilitating procedures for investors and speeding up achievements in simple steps through the Naql (transport) e-gate on its website Naql.sa.

The license will enable land, air and marine freight forwarders from practicing the activity that will contribute to attracting pioneering international investments and increasing the competitiveness of the sector, enhancing shipment options, and enhancing Saudi Arabia's presence and advancement to be among the top 10 countries on the international logistics index.
