Saudi-Uruguayan Joint Committee Meets to Discuss Boosting Cooperation

The first session of the Saudi-Uruguayan Joint Committee started yesterday in Montevideo, Uruguay; over two days, the committee will discuss ways to boost cooperation in several sectors, to the benefit of both countries.

The Saudi delegation is headed by Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture for Agriculture Eng. Ahmad Alayadh and the Uruguayan side is headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Nicolas Albertoni.

Alayadh said that meetings such as this aim to strengthen the relations between Saudi Arabia and Uruguay, in line with the general agreement for economic and technical cooperation between the two nations, which seeks to boost collaboration in various sectors.

Alayadh witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding establishing a joint business council for the Council of Saudi Chambers and the Union of Exporters of Uruguay, supporting trade between the two countries.

At the first session, a comprehensive work program was approved to bolster collaboration across various sectors, and two subcommittees were established to focus on economic, commercial, agricultural, cultural, and sports cooperation.

The two sides expressed desire to enhance cooperation in areas such as environment, water, agriculture, food security, energy, health, and investment, and highlighted the important role of the private sector in executing joint projects.
