
Assistant Minister of Health and Official Spokesman of the Ministry of Health Dr. Mohammed Al-Abdulaali stressed today that the world is still witnessing the registration of cases on daily and weekly bases.
In a press conference held here, he added that the infection curve is going through positive stages not only in terms of registration of cases, but in the tests that record an increase in the awareness of the society, and emphasizes epidemiological control, as indicated by the curve of critical cases that are also seeing a decline.
He stressed that the number of doses given in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is close to 60 million doses, with nearly 24 million people vaccinated with two doses, and that the effect of vaccines on protecting society is obvious, and has contributed to reducing critical cases.
The official Spokesman stated that a re-infection of Omicron by the same person who received the vaccine or did not receive it is possible, but it varies in proportions, as it is more severe and more likely for those who did not receive the vaccine.
He noted that the Kingdom is recognized by the World Health Organization and worldwide health-related organizations as one of the best in dealing with the pandemic citing that the steps taken in this regard by Saudi experts and specialists, and the adoption of relevant recommendations and decisions gained their confidence.
