Saudi Arabia's Royal Court announced Monday that the new moon of the lunar month of Shawwal has been sighted, the last day of the holy Month of Ramadan.

This means that Eid Al Fitr will be heralded on Tuesday June 4, marking the first day of the three-day celebration.

Eid al-Fitr celebrations follow the sighting of the crescent moon, ending the holy month of Ramadan and the dawn-to-dusk fasting of millions of Muslims.

Saudi Arabia started the first day of Ramadan on Monday 6 May, alongwith Egypt, UAE and most of the Islamic and Arab countries.
