Representatives of the internationally recognized government of Yemen and the Southern Transitional Council (STC) met here on Thursday to discuss the complete implementation of the Riyadh Agreement.

The meeting comes as part of the ongoing Saudi efforts to achieve security and stability in Yemen and push all parties to accept political solutions and resolve their differences in a peaceful manner ever since the signing of the agreement.

As part of the agreement; both parties vowed to stop all forms of escalation —political; military; security; economic; social; and media.

However; the Kingdom also noted that the recent political and media escalation and the subsequent political and military appointments made by the Southern Transitional Council are inconsistent with what agreed upon between the two parties.

In the meeting; Saudi Arabia also called on both parties to respond urgently to what was agreed upon; resolve differences; work in line with the agreed mechanism; and further complete the implementation of the remaining provisions of the agreement on a priority basis to serve the public interest.

The Kingdom also urged them to unite the various segments of the Yemeni people; prevent bloodshed and bridge the rift among its components; complete its path to restore its state; security and stability; and support efforts to find a comprehensive political solution to end the crisis in the war-hit country.

During the meeting Saudi Arabia reiterated its continued support for the Yemeni government in which the STC is a partner; underlining the importance of the commitment of both parties to what was agreed upon.
