The General Directorate of Passports has clarified that Saudi citizens can renew their passports electronically through the Ministry of Interior’s Absher platform, provided that at least six months remain on the current passport at the time of renewal. The authority urged citizens to comply with all requirements and conditions for renewing their own and their family members’ passports.

The Passports Directorate also confirmed that a passport can be used for travel to Arab countries up to three months before its expiry, and for travel to other countries up to six months before expiry.

The authority stressed that the family registry card is not considered a travel document, and that the digital national ID available on Absher and Tawakkalna platforms does not entitle its holder to travel outside the Kingdom.

The General Directorate of Passports also highlighted the importance of carrying a valid passport or national ID when traveling to Gulf Cooperation Council countries, to ensure compliance with travel requirements and avoid any issues during the journey.
