Saudi traffic authority warns drivers to stop for school buses

Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Traffic has renewed its warning to motorists, stressing the need to follow safety regulations when school buses are stopped, in order to protect students as they board or exit the bus.

Through its official account on the X platform, the authority emphasized the importance of not overtaking a stopped school bus from any direction while students are getting on or off, and urged drivers to stop whenever they see a school bus halted.

Traffic guidelines when a school bus stops

The traffic authority called on drivers to adhere to several key guidelines, including:

• Stop when you see a school bus halted.

• Do not overtake the bus from any direction while students are boarding or exiting.

• Maintain a safe distance behind a stopped bus.

• Be alert to the movement of students and pedestrians around the bus.

• Obey the school bus “Stop” sign and do not pass it.

The authority stressed that following these instructions helps enhance road safety and protects students using school transport.
