Saudi Passports Directorate outlines steps to update resident photo on Absher

The General Directorate of Passports has clarified that residents can update their personal photo through the Absher app by uploading a recent image.

According to the directorate’s post on its X platform page, users can access the service by logging into Absher, selecting 'Services,' then 'Update Resident Photo,' and completing the required steps.

Requirements for updating a resident’s photo

The directorate explained that the service allows residents to submit a request to update their personal photo for their Muqeem ID electronically via Absher.

To be accepted, the photo must meet certain conditions: proper lighting and dimensions, men must have their head uncovered, no facial additions, and a completely white background.

The uploaded photo is verified using artificial intelligence technologies. Once approved by the relevant authority, the request is processed and the photo updated. Biometric verification is conducted through Nafath.

If activation of Nafath is not possible, users may choose to bypass facial biometric verification when logging in.
