MHRSD intervenes to reinstate Saudi employee fired over Tawakkalna app issue

Saad Al-Hammad, spokesman of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development (MHRSD), said that the ministry's intervention has been instrumental in reinstating a Saudi employee who was sacked from a company in the Makkah region over an issue related with Tawakkalna application.

The Saudi employee was allegedly terminated from service after he denied permission for entry for an expatriate official of the company following the latter's failure to show his health status on Tawakkalna application, Al-Arabiya reported.

The ministry's intervention came after the incident of firing the Saudi employee over the issue of denying entry for the expatriate official went viral on social media. Several social media users, including Twitteratis, demanded the intervention of the ministry to get justice done to the Saudi employee and penalize the expatriate official.

Al-Hammad said that officials from the ministry visited the company premises to probe into the incident and legal measures were taken against those who committed violations after completing the investigation procedures.

"Accordingly, the company reinstated the employee and coordination is under way with the competent authorities to complete the legal procedures against the expatriate official," he said.

The spokesman stressed that respecting and implementing provisions of the Labor Law is the duty of each party involved in the labor relationship, and that whoever violates the law will be subjected to penal actions.

He called on all the concerned to report any violation in the labor market through its mobile application "Together Monitoring" application or by calling the unified number for complaints and reports (19911).
