Saudi traffic authority warns against unclear license plates, issues fines

The General Directorate of Traffic has urged motorists to ensure their vehicle license plates are clearly visible and to replace them if damaged.

The authority stated on X that driving a vehicle with unclear or damaged license plates is a traffic violation, punishable by a fine ranging from 1,000 to 2,000 riyals (SAR).

The General Directorate of Traffic also warned of the dangers of weaving between vehicles on public roads, stressing that such behavior can cause drivers to lose control of their vehicles.

According to the authority, weaving at high speed between vehicles is considered a traffic violation, with fines ranging from 3,000 to 6,000 riyals.

The authority further emphasized the importance of driving cautiously on all roads.

It added, via X, that drivers must adhere to speed limits, maintain a safe distance, and yield the right of way when required.

Additional reminders include using turn signals when changing lanes or directions, staying alert and focused, avoiding distractions, and using hazard lights for any sudden changes on the road.
