Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Prime Minister, chaired the Cabinet's virtual session today.
At the outset of the session, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques thanked Allah Almighty for the bestowed blessings on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the honor in serving the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors. The King on the occasion of the 91st National Day said that he looks forward to more accomplishments to achieve further progress and prosperity for this dear country, whose pillars were laid by the late founder King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman and continued to grow and empower under the leadership of his sons after him, to be the land of progress, beacon of civilization and home of justice, and a spot that spreads and promotes peace in the whole world.
Then, the Cabinet was briefed on the recent talks and meetings that took place between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a number of countries, including the content of the message that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques sent to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, dealing with the historical fraternal relations between the two countries and ways to enhance joint cooperation.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Acting Minister of Media Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi disclosed that the Cabinet addressed a number of topics at the local and global levels, including the contents of the statement of the Ministerial Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States issued at its 149th session. The statement reviewed the developments of political issues in the region and the world, and joint Gulf Action, in light of the efforts being exerted to implement the decisions of the GCC Supreme Council and the vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques regarding strengthening the joint Gulf Action in all fields.
The Cabinet touched upon the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States of America's affirmation of commitment to a comprehensive political solution to the crisis in Yemen, their full support for the United Nations Special Envoy, as well as their call on the Yemeni government to take all necessary steps as soon as possible in order to start achieving economic stability in Yemen.
The Cabinet reiterated Kingdom's support for international efforts aimed at preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and strengthening the Non-Proliferation Treaty in the region and the world. This is in addition to the Kingdom citing, during the session of the Board of Governors of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Iran's continued flouting of the IAEA's safeguards and its noncommitment to the IAEA's Additional Protocol by working on expanding and developing its nuclear capabilities.
The Cabinet reviewed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's activities during the week, including the launch of the Human Capability Development Program (HCDP), one of Vision 2030 realization programs, whereas the program represents a national strategy to strengthen citizens' capabilities locally and globally by seizing promising opportunities resulting from accelerated and renewed changes around the world. The Cabinet also reviewed the outcomes of Riyadh Global Medical Biotechnology Summit (RGMBS) 2021, including the signed agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) that are expected to have a positive impact on the future of the biomedical technology industry and investment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the entire world.
The Cabinet was briefed on a number of issues on its agenda, and issued the following decisions:
The Cabinet authorized the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance – or his representative – to discuss and sign with Burkina Faso's side a draft memorandum of understanding in the field of Islamic affairs between the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization of the Republic of Burkina Faso.
The Cabinet approved a draft memorandum of understanding in the investment field between the Ministry of Investment of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Public-Private Partnership Authority of the People's Republic of Bangladesh. The Cabinet authorized the Minister of Investment – or his representative – to discuss and sign with the Bangladeshi side in this regard.
The Cabinet authorized the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Space Commission – or his representative – to discuss and sign with the United Nations Space Generation Advisory Council regarding a draft memorandum of cooperation between the Saudi Space Commission of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Nations Space Generation Advisory Council.
The Cabinet authorized the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Space Commission – or his representative – to sign the joint Declaration of Interest for a Space Climate Observatory.
The Cabinet approved a mechanism of work and governance for the conclusion of trade and trade-related agreements.
The Cabinet approved the rules governing the Privatization.
The Cabinet approved the final account of the Public Pension Agency (previous) for a previous fiscal year.
The Cabinet approved a number of promotions at (14) Rank. The Cabinet also reviewed a number of general topics on its agenda. The Cabinet took the necessary measures regarding these topics.
