Saudi Civil Affairs clarifies required documents for job title change

The Agency of the Ministry of Interior for Civil Affairs in Saudi Arabia has clarified the required document when visiting Civil Affairs offices to change a job title.

According to Civil Affairs, via its official account on X, those wishing to change their job title must provide a letter of profession identification from their employer.

This clarification came in response to a follower’s inquiry about the documents needed when attending to change a profession.

Civil Affairs confirmed that the letter of profession identification issued by the employer is the required document to complete the procedure.

Regulations for job title modification

Previously, Civil Affairs stated that job titles are updated based on a letter or certificate authenticated by the relevant authority, effective from the date specified in the document, and the update can be done by the authority whenever electronic linkage is available.

The regulations for modifying job titles through Civil Affairs are as follows:

- The field will state “Government Employee” if the document is from a government entity, regardless of whether the person is under the pension or social insurance system.

- The field will state “Private Sector Employee” if the document is from a private company or institution.

- The field will state “Retired” for those whose service ended due to retirement.

- The field will state “Terminated” for those whose service ended for reasons other than retirement.

- Changing the status from (Student) to (Homemaker) or (Terminated) requires a declaration to that effect.

- The field will state “Merchant” for those holding a valid commercial registration.

- The field will state “Businessman” or “Businesswoman” for those holding three or more valid commercial registrations with different activities.
