Saudi passports authority outlines steps to activate new passports

The General Directorate of Passports has confirmed that travelers can activate their new passports by visiting any passport office or border control point, provided they bring their previous passport.

The directorate previously clarified that activating a passport at designated counters in airport terminals requires the traveler to have a confirmed flight.

It added that beneficiaries may visit the nearest passport branch to have their previous passport checked and the new one activated.

The directorate also noted that after submitting a passport renewal request, travelers cannot use either the current or new passport, nor the national ID, for travel until the old passport is handed over and the new one is activated.

It is worth noting that passports issued for the first time do not require activation after collection.
