Gulf; Arab allies back Saudi efforts to secure peace and stability in Yemen

Saudi Arabia's allies in the Gulf and the Arab world have extended their full support to the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to secure peace and stability in Yemen.

The show of solidarity comes after Saudi Arabia called on the Yemeni government and the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in order to complete the implementation of all provisions of the Riyadh Agreement on a priority basis to serve the public interest in the war-hit country.

During a meeting held on Thursday between representatives of the Yemeni government and the STC; urged both parties to unite the various segments of the Yemeni people; prevent bloodshed and bridge the rift among its components; complete its path to restore its state; security and stability; and support efforts to find a comprehensive political solution to end the crisis in the war-hit country.

In a statement on Friday; Kuwait's foreign ministry also praised the continuous efforts of Saudi Arabia to resolve the crisis in Yemen and the region.

Implementing provisions of the agreement

The Kuwaiti ministry also welcomed the meeting that brought together representatives of the Yemeni government and the STC; which also resulted in an agreement to stop all forms of escalation.

The ministry called on both parties to implement the Riyadh Agreement completely; underlining its importance in restoring security; safety and stability in Yemen

Meanwhile; the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Nayef Al-Hajraf also called on both parties to completely implement the Riyadh Agreement.

He stressed the need to work with the agreed-upon mechanism; and in order to give priority to the public interest to complete the implementation of the remaining provisions of the agreement.

Al-Hajraf stressed the firm position of the GCC in support of the legitimate Yemeni government based on the three references represented in the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanism; the outcomes of the Yemeni national dialogue and Security Council Resolution to achieve security and stability; end the crisis and alleviate the suffering of the people.

Valuing kingdom efforts

The GCC chief valued the great efforts being made by the Kingdom to support the security and stability of Yemen and its keenness to bring together the parties to the Riyadh Agreement and to follow up on the commitment of both parties to what was agreed upon.

In a statement on Friday; the Arab Parliament also valued the urgent call made by Saudi Arabia to the two parties of the Riyadh Agreement to abide by the accord and stop all forms of political; military; security and media escalation.

The Arab parliament reaffirmed that the Kingdom's call is an extension of its untiring efforts and firm resolve to unite both b parties in order to restore security and stability in Yemen.

The Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Yousef Al-Othaimeen also welcomed the meeting and urged the two t to stop all forms of escalation: political; military; security; economic; social; and media and work in line with the efforts made by Saudi Arabia that brought them together in Riyadh in order to discuss the completion of all provision of the Riyadh Agreement.

The OIC chief valued the Kingdom's continued keenness on the security and stability of Yemen and the region; and the serious and practical support for peace; ending the Yemeni crisis and alleviating the human suffering of the Yemeni people.
