Saudi Public Security warns against fake online offers, urges verification

Saudi Public Security has warned citizens against falling for fraudulent commercial offers and discounts, stressing the importance of verifying the source and authenticity of online links before entering personal information or making any online payments.

In a statement on its official account on X, Public Security explained that attractive offers may be used for online fraud and data theft. The authority urged the public to confirm the legitimacy of commercial offers and discounts, and to verify the advertiser and the credibility of the offer before engaging with it.

It also emphasized the need to avoid dealing with untrusted links or messages, as they may pose risks to users' personal and financial information.

Public Security called on the public to report cybercrimes by visiting the nearest police station, or by calling 911 in the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province, and 999 in other parts of the Kingdom. It confirmed that all reports are treated with strict confidentiality and that informants bear no responsibility.
