Arab Leagues’ Permanent Administrative and Financial Affairs Committee Discusses AL budget

Chaired by Assistant Undersecretary for International Financial Affairs of the Ministry of Finance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Hussain bin Shawish Al-Shawish, the 100th session of the Arab Leagues' Permanent Administrative and Financial Affairs Committee started here today.

In a statement following the meeting, Al-Shawish said that the committee, over the past two days, discussed several issues, mainly the budget of the General Secretariat of the Arab League for next year, as well as the financial status of the general reserve of the Arab League as well as the arrears of some member states.

He noted that the committee also discussed requests submitted by several states for amending articles of the staff statute, with their feedbacks to be provided later for discussion by an open-membership committee formed for this purpose, before being reviewed by the Arab League Council's upcoming session, which will be held at the level of Arab foreign ministers in the first week of September.

For his part, the Assistant Secretary-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs of the Arab League Abdullah Sorour Al-Jarman, said the committee has prepared the draft budget of the Arab League for next year, that's equal to the budgets of previous years, standing at $US60.9 million.
