AI could reshape jobs for 11 million US workers by 2035

The growing use of artificial intelligence technologies is expected to bring sweeping changes to the US job market in the coming years, with estimates suggesting that around 11 million workers may need to move to different roles by 2035.

CNN reported that this figure represents about 6.5% of the current US workforce, noting that some of these employees could transition to entirely new professions as reliance on AI and automation increases.

On the other hand, estimates from the McKinsey Global Institute, cited by CNN, indicate that AI could help create more jobs than those that may disappear over the next nine years, as new roles emerge related to the development, application, and management of these technologies.

Globally, the institute expects that growth in AI-related fields will generate demand for around 40 million jobs by 2035.

These projections reflect a rapid transformation in the nature of the job market, as the impact of AI is not limited to eliminating certain positions but also extends to changing required skills and creating new employment opportunities. This makes retraining and acquiring new skills a key factor in preparing workers for upcoming changes.
