Key facts about Saudi Arabia’s anti-human trafficking law

King Abdulaziz Hospital in Makkah has provided an overview of the Kingdom’s anti-human trafficking law.

The hospital explained on X that the law defines human trafficking as the use, recruitment, transportation, harboring, or receipt of a person for the purpose of exploitation.

It added that the law specifies when a crime is considered transnational, including the following cases:

a. If it is committed in more than one country.

b. If it is committed in one country, but a significant part of its preparation, planning, direction, or supervision takes place in another country.

c. If it is committed in one country, but involves an organized criminal group that engages in criminal activities in more than one country.

d. If it is committed in one country, but has substantial effects in another country.

The law also defines an organized criminal group as a group of two or more people acting together to commit human trafficking for direct or indirect material, financial, or other benefit.

According to the law, a child is defined as anyone under the age of 18.

The law prohibits all forms of human trafficking and guarantees the rights of victims.
