Heavy thunderstorms and rain expected across Saudi Arabia on Wednesday

The National Center for Meteorology has issued its weather forecast for Wednesday, corresponding to 15-2-1448 in the Hijri calendar, indicating continued chances of moderate to heavy thunderstorms that may cause flash floods and hail showers in parts of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha, and Makkah regions.

Strong winds raising dust and sand will persist in these areas, as well as in parts of the Eastern Province, Riyadh, and Madinah.

Over the Red Sea, northwesterly to westerly surface winds are expected over the northern and central parts, with southwesterly to northwesterly winds at 15–35 km/h, reaching over 50 km/h with the formation of thunderstorm clouds in the southern part. Wave heights will range from half a meter to one and a half meters, exceeding two meters in areas affected by thunderstorms in the south.

In the Arabian Gulf, northwesterly to northeasterly surface winds will blow at 12–30 km/h, shifting in the evening to southeasterly to southwesterly at 5–15 km/h over the northern and central parts. In the southern part, southwesterly to northwesterly winds will shift to northerly to northeasterly in the evening at 10–25 km/h, reaching up to 50 km/h with the development of thunderstorm clouds.
