About3,500 workers and 89 machines are being used daily to disinefct the GrandMosque here, the Saudi Pres Agency (SPA) said in a report on Saturday. Thereport said over 2,160 liters of environment-friendly sanitizers are used inthe six-times per day cleaning process covering the entire mosque, its piazzasand utilities.
Besides this all the carpets are cleaned once every five days, SPA quoted theGeneral Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques as saying.
The Suqya Zamzam Administration has assigned 450 workers to cleanse andsterilize Zamzam coolers, their bases and Zamzam fountains. There are about27,000 Zamzam coolers in the Grand Mosque.
The Services Administration has sterilized all the manual and electricwheelchairs available in the warehouses. All the services points in and outsidethe Grand Mosque have been supplied with hand gloves and sanitizers.
These measures come as part of the precautionary and preventative measuresbeing carried out by the presidency to prevent the transmission of the novel coronavirus(COVID-19) infection into the Grand Mosque and its piazzas. It is also meant toensure the safety of the visitors and worshipers at the Holy Mosque.
Sterilization workers have been divided into three shifts so as to have workers24/7 to sterilize the Haram. These workers have received training and have beenenlightened on the precautionary role they are carrying out, and the greatimportance of sterilization in ensuring the safety of the worshipers andvisitors to the Grand Mosque.
Special machines are being used to mix the sanitizers and detergents toguarantee a balance in all the fluids. The workers are taught to mix thesefluids in the correct way. Furthermore, the necessary tests are conductedbefore starting the cleaning and sterilization operations.
