Thunderstorms and heavy rain forecast across Saudi Arabia Sunday

Weather conditions across Saudi Arabia on Sunday, corresponding to 24-3-1448 in the Hijri calendar, will see continued chances of moderate to heavy thunderstorms, leading to possible flooding and hail showers in parts of Jazan, Asir, and Al-Baha, as well as areas of the Makkah highlands.

Active winds stirring dust and sand are expected to affect parts of these regions, as well as coastal areas of Madinah and Makkah.

Sunday weather outlook

Fog is also likely to form along the eastern coastal areas, with a chance of thunderclouds accompanied by strong winds in the southern parts of the Eastern Province.

For the Red Sea, northwesterly to northerly surface winds are expected at 20-45 km/h in the northern and central sections, reaching up to 55 km/h toward the Gulf of Aqaba. Northwesterly to westerly winds at 15-38 km/h, possibly exceeding 50 km/h, are forecast in the southern section with the development of thunderclouds.

Wave heights will range from one to two meters, potentially exceeding two meters toward the Gulf of Aqaba, especially in the southern section where thunderstorms are expected.
