Khafji unveils new sandy beach to boost tourism and quality of life

Covering more than 49,000 square meters, the new sandy beach on the Khafji Corniche stands out as a unique environmental and recreational landmark. The coastal destination enhances Khafji’s tourism and leisure offerings, providing a comprehensive experience for residents and visitors alike, and strengthening the city’s position as a leading tourist destination. This project is part of ongoing efforts to improve quality of life and create a healthy, vibrant recreational environment.

The beach features a modern urban design that combines green spaces and recreational and sports facilities. Green areas exceed 15,500 square meters, complemented by dedicated walking paths, seating areas, a sandy sports field, a playground, spacious parking, and decorative lighting that adds a distinctive aesthetic touch to the site.

The project brings together environmental, recreational, and sports elements in one location, allowing visitors to enjoy a variety of activities along the waterfront. It encourages healthy lifestyles and provides attractive public spaces that foster community interaction and support the humanization of the city.

Faisal Al-Zahrani, spokesperson for the Eastern Province Municipality, said the Khafji sandy beach is part of the municipality’s efforts to develop waterfronts and public spaces, under the guidance of the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing. The aim is to enhance tourism and leisure infrastructure in Khafji, offering diverse options for residents and visitors, improving the urban landscape, and raising quality of life.

He added that developing waterfronts is a key strategy in making cities and provinces more attractive, leveraging their natural assets, and providing entertainment and tourism facilities that meet community needs, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and the Quality of Life Program.

Efforts continue to develop public spaces and waterfronts, expand green areas, and provide more recreational and sports facilities, all contributing to a more attractive and sustainable urban environment and reinforcing Khafji’s status as a leading tourism and leisure destination.

The Eastern Province Municipality, with support from the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, is working to position Khafji as one of the Kingdom’s top tourist destinations and to provide all the elements needed for success and quality of life in the city.
