China reports 100 citizens missing after floods on Nepal border

China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reported that around 100 Chinese nationals are missing in areas struck by floods on the Nepalese side of the border.

Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said at a press conference on Thursday, as quoted by Channel News Asia, that the Chinese embassy in Nepal is seeking further information from Nepalese authorities regarding the missing citizens.

Lin explained that the disaster has caused significant loss of life, with people missing on both sides of the China-Nepal border. He added that the two countries are in close contact and are coordinating rescue efforts.

The sudden floods swept through border areas between Nepal and China's Tibet region, killing at least 177 people, with hundreds more still unaccounted for.
