Jathjath and khuzama plants boost vegetation in King Salman Royal Reserve

King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve is renowned for its unique native plant diversity, highlighted by the aromatic perennial jathjath shrub. Belonging to the Asteraceae family, jathjath can grow up to 70 cm tall, with white-haired branches, narrow leaves, and yellow flowers. Alongside it thrives the khuzama plant, an annual herb from the Brassicaceae family, which reaches up to 40 cm in height and is distinguished by its branched stems, serrated leaves, and bright violet flowers.

The reserve’s development authority is intensifying efforts to protect these native species, underscoring their vital role in safeguarding ecosystems, conserving natural resources, and supporting sustainability goals and the Saudi Green Initiative.
