Ninth Al-Atawlah Heritage Festival opens in Al-Baha region

Under the patronage of Al-Baha Governor Dr. Hussam bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Abdullah bin Saad Al-Damer, Governor of Al-Qura, yesterday inaugurated the ninth edition of the Al-Atawlah Heritage Festival. The event, held at the Rabee Quraysh Market in Al-Qura, features participation from several government, private, and non-profit organizations.

According to the organizing committee, the festival will run for 15 days and offers a range of programs and activities that celebrate the region’s heritage and highlight its vibrant present. Highlights include the Heritage Valley, which fosters environmental connections across generations, demonstrations of traditional plowing, stone construction, and historical harvesting methods. The festival also features traditional bridal processions, folk games, and stalls for local families showcasing traditional clothing and popular foods. Live demonstrations of stone building and carving, as well as traditional farming and harvesting practices, are also on display, alongside art exhibitions, a children’s theater, competitions, and live shows.

The committee added that the Al-Atawlah heritage village houses a museum with a diverse collection of artifacts. The festival stage will host poetry evenings, cultural competitions, and folk art performances, reflecting the region’s cultural heritage and enhancing its appeal to visitors during the summer season.

The festival is part of the Summer Al-Baha 2026 events, aimed at highlighting and preserving the cultural and heritage legacy of Al-Baha, and strengthening its role as a key tourism and cultural attraction in the region.
