Flu vaccine reduces hospitalizations and complications, Riyadh official says

Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Junaidi, head of the Immunization Department at the First Riyadh Health Cluster, said the influenza vaccine reduces the likelihood of hospitalization and helps prevent complications from the flu.

Speaking to Al Ekhbariya TV, he added that 95.5% of patients admitted to hospitals and intensive care units had not received the vaccine.

Al-Junaidi noted that the flu vaccine lowers the risk of contracting the illness and, if infection does occur, reduces the severity of complications. These complications can include pneumonia, throat inflammation, and fevers exceeding 40 degrees Celsius.
