‘Muafaa’ initiative launched to treat cataract patients near holy sites

The 'Muafaa' Eye Care Initiative was launched today in Makkah to provide cataract treatment and surgeries for pilgrims and residents living near the Two Holy Mosques. The initiative is a partnership between health and community organizations in Makkah, aiming to improve beneficiaries' quality of life and create an integrated model that combines healthcare with humanitarian impact. It brings together the nonprofit, government, and private sectors, and was inaugurated at the Hajj and Umrah Association headquarters in Makkah, coinciding with World Ophthalmologists Day.

The launch event introduced the initiative's vision and its target of reaching 1,000 beneficiaries. It also highlighted the roles of participating organizations and the anticipated impact, featuring visual and informational content that showcased the beneficiary journey and the value of collaboration among supporters, enablers, management, and the medical team in this strategic community partnership.

Partners emphasized that 'Muafaa' represents a model of integrated action that places people at the center, transforming contributions into measurable health outcomes and impactful stories that preserve beneficiaries' dignity. The initiative aims to reach its first 100 beneficiaries in the initial phase, with plans to continue toward the goal of 1,000 beneficiaries.
