AI system detects blood pressure and diabetes in five seconds

A Japanese study has demonstrated the potential of artificial intelligence to detect high blood pressure and diabetes.

Researchers at the University of Tokyo said the method relies on five-second facial video clips, offering a technology that could simplify future medical screenings, according to Al-Sharq.

The study found that a machine learning algorithm could identify high blood pressure with over 90% accuracy, and diabetes with more than 80% accuracy, using these short recordings.

The researchers aimed to develop an algorithm that enables contactless screening, with the goal of early and widespread detection of common diseases.
