Egyptian weightlifter faints during Mediterranean Games in Italy

The athlete collapsed while lifting weights in the competition. Although she managed to complete the lift, she lost consciousness moments later and fell onto her back, according to Al Arabiya.

Ahmed Mossad, a member of the Egyptian delegation's medical committee at the 2026 Mediterranean Games, reassured the public that Helmy is now in good health and suffered no lasting issues from the incident.

Egyptian media reports stated that Helmy experienced a brief drop in blood circulation, a common occurrence among weightlifters that typically lasts only five to ten seconds. They added that there is no cause for concern in such cases.
