Expert outlines symptoms of psoriatic arthritis

Dr. Saita Al-Shammari, consultant and head of the adult rheumatology department at King Saud Medical City, said that psoriatic arthritis is a chronic joint disease that affects the limbs and spine.

Speaking in an interview with Al-Saudiya TV, she added that the condition is often directly related to patients who have skin psoriasis, either through a family history or the patient's own history. She noted that the longer a person has psoriasis, the higher their risk of developing psoriatic arthritis.

Al-Shammari pointed out that nail changes are among the early symptoms, such as brittleness and the appearance of small pits, as well as joint stiffness lasting more than 30 minutes a day and swelling of the fingers.
