Saudi heritage enthusiast preserves old dallahs to keep coffee traditions alive

The dallah has never been just a tool for making coffee; it has long been associated with Saudi gatherings and has become a symbol of hospitality and generosity passed down through generations.

In Tabarjal, in northern Saudi Arabia, heritage enthusiast Saeed Al-Ghadyan says his passion for collecting old dallahs began in childhood. He documents their history to preserve this authentic tradition for future generations.

Speaking in a video report on Al Ekhbariya, Al-Ghadyan said he traveled to various regions to collect old dallahs. Although he once tried to distance himself from the hobby—even selling some pieces—he found he could not stay away and eventually resumed collecting them.

The dallahs Al-Ghadyan preserves come in diverse shapes and craftsmanship, reflecting the rich history of coffee-making tools and the social and cultural values they represent, which remain alive in Saudi society today.
