Dr. Yekaterina Dubrovina, associate professor at Pirogov Medical University, has identified a list of houseplants that purify indoor air from carbon dioxide and carcinogenic substances.

According to Russia Today, these plants use photosynthesis to release oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide and carcinogens at night.

She highlighted several preferred plants for air purification. Aloe vera is among the best, acting as an oxygen generator at night and effectively neutralizing formaldehyde. Other recommended plants include kalanchoe, snake plant, spider plant, and peace lily.

She added that it is best to place these plants in the bedroom, at a distance of 0.5 to 2 meters from the bed. However, there is no need to turn the bedroom into a greenhouse; two large plants are ideal. Excessively moist soil in many pots can lead to mold growth if the room is poorly ventilated.
