Al-Qafeel walkway in Al-Makhwah opens as new urban leisure hub

Al-Makhwah Municipality has completed the development and renovation of the Al-Qafeel neighborhood’s walkway, sports fields, and green spaces, covering a total area of approximately 27,000 square meters. The project aims to provide an urban recreational space for residents and visitors, encouraging sports and leisure activities.

The site features a 500-meter-long walkway and a dedicated path of the same length for scooters and bicycles. There are also pavements and pathways covering 4,000 square meters, making it easier for visitors to access the site’s facilities.

The upgrades include new sports fields spanning 3,300 square meters, with a football pitch covered in artificial turf and a volleyball court, both equipped with floodlights.

Green spaces now exceed 8,000 square meters and feature more than 70 trees, with plans to plant more in the future to enhance vegetation and improve the urban landscape. The site is also equipped with decorative lighting and restrooms for men and women.

Renovation work included upgrading the park and walkway’s surrounding walls, covering about 6,000 square meters with natural stone and decorating them with quartz stone patterns to match the area’s architectural style.

A 120-meter-long rainwater drainage channel was constructed beneath the park to protect the facilities and improve infrastructure efficiency and sustainability.

This project is part of Al-Makhwah Municipality’s efforts to develop public facilities and spaces, expand green areas, and create sports and recreational sites that improve quality of life and enhance the area’s appeal.
