Dutch falcon breeder returns to Saudi international auction after learning Arabic in Madinah

Four years ago, Dutch national Sam’s passion for learning Arabic in Madinah introduced him to the world of falconry. After spending six months in Saudi Arabia to master the language, he returned home with a deep admiration for this rich cultural heritage.

This enthusiasm soon turned practical, prompting Sam to establish his own falcon breeding farm. He has maintained his connection to falconry by participating for the third time in the International Falcon Breeders Auction.

Sam explained that he brought four falcons to his first auction appearance, increased his entry to seven birds last year, and has returned this year with four new falcons. He emphasized that his experience in Saudi Arabia was the starting point for his journey in falconry.

Family experience and appreciation for organization

This year, Sam’s experience extended to his family, whom he brought to Saudi Arabia to witness the auction firsthand. He noted that his family enjoyed the event, which blends authentic heritage with an international presence.

Sam praised the advanced level of organization at this year’s auction, saying the professionalism reflects the efforts to attract breeders from around the world and strengthen their participation in this specialized event.

He also commended the National Center for Falcons for its support of breeders and the services provided to participants, noting that these efforts have expanded participation and created an attractive environment for international farms seeking access to the market and a better understanding of its needs.
