Egypt launches legal action over unauthorized filming in Luxor tombs

Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has announced that legal measures are being taken against officials who permitted a foreign content creator to film inside archaeological tombs in Luxor without purchasing a ticket.

In a statement, the ministry said: "As part of its commitment to preserving archaeological sites, enforcing regulations, and ensuring the highest standards of service for visitors, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has reviewed the incidents shown in videos recorded and shared by a foreign content creator on social media."

The ministry added that its investigation identified members of the administrative security staff at the archaeological sites who allowed the content creator to visit several tombs in Luxor without an entry ticket. They also permitted access to areas closed to the public, in violation of established regulations. Legal action has been taken against those responsible, in accordance with the relevant rules and procedures.
