Social isolation raises heart complication risk for coronary patients, expert warns

Cardiology consultant Khaled Al-Nemer has warned against neglecting coronary artery disease patients and leaving them in social isolation.

Writing on his X account, Al-Nemer stressed the importance of supporting heart patients, caring for them, and avoiding actions that may upset them.

He added that studies have shown social isolation increases the risk of cardiac complications in coronary artery disease patients by threefold over six years, independently of traditional risk factors.
