Jeddah leads Red Sea coastal tourism for summer 2026

Jeddah is poised to lead Red Sea coastal tourism in summer 2026, capitalizing on its diverse beaches and marine sites, as well as the growing number of trips, activities, and water sports attracting visitors from across Saudi Arabia and abroad.

Thirteen beaches and marine sites in Jeddah are experiencing increased activity, overseen by 34 field supervisors and 66 lifeguards, enhancing visitor safety and service readiness, and supporting a high-quality visitor experience amid rising demand for coastal activities.

Visitors can choose from four water sports and marine experiences, in addition to boat trips to explore islands and coral reefs, offering opportunities to enjoy water activities in an environment that blends entertainment, sports, and natural marine beauty.

Tourism organization boosts marine experiences

The Saudi Red Sea Authority is helping to develop and regulate coastal tourism activities through frameworks and licensing, supporting the quality of marine experiences, raising standards of readiness and safety, and promoting the growth and sustainability of the coastal tourism sector.

Bayada Island, located off the coast of Jeddah, stands out as a key marine destination this season, thanks to its clear waters and marine environment, offering a mix of relaxation, water activities, and opportunities to explore marine life.

Boat trips to Al-Lith islands and cruise sector growth

The range of marine experiences extends south along the Makkah region’s coast, with trips to the “Four Sisters” islands in Al-Lith, a top destination for diving enthusiasts and professionals due to its coral reefs and diverse marine habitats.

Beach and island activities are complemented by the growth of cruise tourism, especially “Aroya Cruises” departing from Jeddah Islamic Port, strengthening the city’s links to a network of marine destinations and reinforcing Jeddah’s status as a main gateway for Red Sea coastal tourism.

Economic boost and alignment with Vision 2030

Jeddah Islamic Port’s strategic location supports this activity, while the growth of marine tourism adds a new dimension to visitor flows and enhances integration between tourism, transport, hospitality, and entertainment sectors.

Marine tourism-related economic activities include boat operations and trips, diving and water sports services, transport, hospitality, restaurants, and retail, broadening spending and maximizing the economic value of the summer season.

These developments are part of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to grow the tourism sector and leverage the Red Sea’s competitive advantages, in line with Vision 2030 goals to boost the sector’s contribution to the national economy and improve quality of life.
