King Salman Royal Reserve leads efforts to restore wildlife

The King Salman bin Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority has highlighted the ongoing successes of its development and environmental programs, marking a major leap forward in localizing and enhancing biodiversity within the reserve.

According to the latest data released by the authority, a total of 1,646 wild animals have been reintroduced into the reserve as of December 2023, reflecting a strong commitment to restoring ecological balance and reviving Saudi Arabia’s natural heritage in line with the goals of Vision 2030.

The rewilding initiatives have included some of the region’s most prominent and rare species, such as the Reem gazelle, mountain ibex, Arabian oryx, houbara bustard, and Arabian gazelle. These efforts are part of comprehensive strategic plans adopted by the reserve to provide a safe and sustainable environment, support the breeding of endangered species, and restore pristine natural habitats within the largest nature reserve in the region.
