Abdulmajeed Al-Kenani hails major leap in Saudi cinema with film comeback

Actor and media personality Abdulmajeed Al-Kenani said his return to the screen in the film 'Against the Flow' is a continuation of his artistic journey, which began in theater and short films.

He told Al Arabiya that he was drawn to participate in 'Against the Flow' by the opportunity to work with director Abdulaziz Al-Shalahi and writer Mofrej Al-Mujfel, adding that the script was the decisive factor in his decision to join the project.

Al-Kenani added that he was among the first to take part in the Saudi short film movement, and that despite limited resources at the time, he often produced content of higher quality than many television works.

He noted that the artistic scene in Saudi Arabia has undergone a dramatic transformation since the launch of Saudi Vision 2030, with the establishment of new authorities and initiatives supporting the cinema and theater sectors. As a result, production standards have changed significantly, and the film industry has achieved a genuine leap forward.
