Electronic Arts (EA), one of the world’s leading interactive entertainment companies, announced on Monday the successful completion of its acquisition by a consortium including Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners. As a result, EA has become a privately held company and its shares have been delisted from the Nasdaq stock exchange.

Under the terms of the deal — which was agreed on September 29, 2025, and approved by shareholders at a special meeting on December 22, 2025 — shareholders will receive $210 in cash for each share they held as of the closing date.

Long-term partnership follows five years of investment

Turqi Alnowaiser, Deputy Governor and Head of International Investments at the Public Investment Fund, said: “As a minority investor in the company for more than five years, we have a deep understanding of EA’s unique platform, its major global sports and entertainment franchises, and its iconic intellectual property.” He added that “entertainment and sports are strategic focus areas for the fund, and are among the fastest-growing and most dynamic sectors globally,” noting that the consortium is “uniquely positioned to be a long-term partner to EA’s management in driving sustainable growth and innovation for the company and the industry.”

Andrew Wilson, Chairman and CEO of EA, said the company is entering “its next chapter from a position of strength with partners who share our vision and ambition,” pledging to “invest boldly, accelerate innovation, and build the next generation of games and experiences for hundreds of millions of players.”

Egon Durban, CEO of Silver Lake, said the consortium will invest “heavily” in the company’s growth, including “what artificial intelligence can do to advance gaming and player experiences.” Jared Kushner, CEO of Affinity Partners, added that “EA has created stories, characters, and communities that have become part of daily life for hundreds of millions.”

Inside EA’s portfolio

Headquartered in Redwood City, California, Electronic Arts is a leading global developer and publisher of video games, reporting revenues of around $7.5 billion in its 2026 fiscal year. Its portfolio includes some of the industry’s most popular franchises, such as EA SPORTS FC (the successor to FIFA), Battlefield, Apex Legends, The Sims, Madden NFL, Need for Speed, and EA SPORTS F1.

The acquisition aligns with the Public Investment Fund’s strategy of prioritizing gaming and esports as key sectors, supporting efforts to diversify the local economy and generate investment returns.
