Second Dioudrama Festival opens in Al-Baha

Under the patronage of Al-Baha Governor Prince Hussam bin Saud bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor Abdulmunim bin Yassin Al-Shahri today inaugurated the second edition of the Dioudrama Festival at the King Abdulaziz Cultural Center in Al-Baha.

The event is organized by the Theater and Performing Arts Association and the Al-Baha Society for Culture and Arts, and attracted a large audience of art and theater enthusiasts at the opening ceremony.

The ceremony began with a video presentation highlighting the activities of the Theater and Performing Arts Association, followed by a speech from Khaled Al-Baz, chairman of the festival's supreme committee and CEO of the association. He emphasized that the governor's patronage reflects the region's commitment to supporting the cultural and artistic sector, fostering a creative environment for local talent, and empowering initiatives that contribute to Al-Baha's development and cultural presence.

Al-Baz noted that organizing the festival aligns with the association's mission to promote theater and performing arts. Over the past two years, the association has supported 25 plays—19 for adults and 6 for children—delivered more than 52 theatrical performances and 35 performing arts shows, with the participation of over 430 theater practitioners and 570 performing artists.

At the end of the ceremony, the deputy governor honored the working committees and participating groups.

The festival, which runs until August 30, 2026, features a variety of artistic and cultural programs, as well as performances and activities involving participants from Al-Baha.
