Expert warns against misuse of antibiotics

Dr. Wissam Khan, consultant in kidney and urology surgery, has warned that antibiotics should not be prescribed or consumed carelessly.

Speaking in an interview with Al Ekhbariya TV, he said that improper use of antibiotics can contribute to bacterial resistance.

Khan cautioned that symptoms of urinary tract infections can resemble those of other diseases. He noted that the latest studies from the World Health Organization indicate that one third of laboratory-confirmed urinary tract infections are resistant to antibiotics.
