Egyptian boy's quick action saves father from stroke in six minutes

A 13-year-old Egyptian boy played a decisive and heroic role in saving his father’s life by quickly calling for an ambulance after his father suffered a sudden stroke while traveling.

The incident occurred when Mohamed Ragab Ahmed, aged 13, urgently contacted emergency services to save his father, who became unable to speak or move while driving a pickup truck on the Eastern Desert Road in Beni Suef, south of Cairo.

Facing a critical situation on a remote highway, the boy called the Egyptian Ambulance Authority’s hotline. Despite his young age, he managed to request help while his father required immediate medical attention. An ambulance dispatcher assisted him in pinpointing their location, reassured him, and kept him on the line until the ambulance arrived within just six minutes, according to Al Arabiya.

The Egyptian Medical Syndicate praised the ambulance team’s performance, noting that rapid response and professional handling of emergencies are the first line of defense in saving patients’ lives.

Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity, Dr. Maya Morsy, also directed that the boy, dubbed the “young rescuer,” be contacted and honored for his role in saving his father.
