Saudi teen becomes youngest from Kingdom to summit Europe's highest peak

Abdulaziz bin Osama Al-Hamad, a 15-year-old Saudi, has successfully reached the summit of Mount Elbrus in Russia, the highest peak in Europe at 5,642 meters above sea level, making him the youngest Saudi and the second-youngest Arab to achieve this feat.

Al-Hamad accomplished this milestone as part of an expedition led by Saudi adventurer and mountaineer Saud Al-Aidi. The team overcame harsh weather and physical challenges, including extreme cold, low oxygen levels above 5,000 meters, and the risks associated with altitude sickness.

To prepare for the climb, Al-Hamad underwent an intensive three-month training and fitness program, along with technical preparations to handle the subzero temperatures.

The ascent took six days of strenuous effort, covering about 40 kilometers and a vertical climb of over 4,000 meters on foot. On summit day, the climb lasted nearly nine continuous hours in severe cold, with temperatures dropping to minus 20 degrees Celsius.

Al-Hamad said: "This achievement proves that nothing is impossible for Saudi youth. Thanks to God, and the support of our inspiring leadership, family, and friends, we can accomplish anything we set our minds to!"
