Jeddah’s 13 beaches and waterfronts boost summer tourism options

Thirteen beaches and waterfront destinations in Jeddah are expanding options for residents and visitors to enjoy the beauty of the Red Sea and its diverse activities, creating a lively summer atmosphere along the city’s coastline.

Stretching along the shore, these sites allow guests to move between swimming, strolling, water sports, walking, relaxing, and watching sunsets, with each visit offering a renewed experience.

Jeddah’s highlights include the Roshn Waterfront, one of the largest open urban spaces on the sea, featuring picnic areas, entertainment facilities, and spaces for beach activities. The Obhur Waterfront stands out with its multi-use plazas, green spaces, children’s play areas, a marine pier, cycling paths, and investment and service zones.

Diverse beaches and marine services

In North Obhur, Al-Mustaqbal Beach serves as a model public sandy beach, covering about 17,640 square meters and equipped with marine watchtowers, solar lighting, and swimming guidance signs. Meanwhile, Kokian Beach in South Obhur offers a different experience across nearly 24,000 square meters, with a 400-meter shoreline, seating areas, hospitality options, restaurants, and cafés.

Further south lies Al-Saif Beach, one of Jeddah’s most prominent public beaches, featuring wide spaces, shaded areas, pedestrian walkways, children’s play zones, green lawns, and seating spots. Sha’ara Beach on the southern corniche provides facilities for swimming, monitoring, and rescue.

Al-Lu’lu Beach in North Obhur combines sandy stretches with blue waters, offering swimming, marine activities, and family outings, complemented by safety and rescue services.

Growing economic role of waterfront destinations

These sites are driving tourism and economic activity, with added value extending to restaurants, cafés, transport, hospitality, retail, water sports, boat rentals, and support services, further diversifying Jeddah’s tourism offerings.

The destinations enhance Jeddah’s appeal for living and visiting, creating opportunities for the private sector to develop new services and experiences in the marine and leisure economy. This aligns with tourism development goals to transform natural assets into sustainable economic resources, supporting quality of life and investment diversification.
