Saudi transport authority highlights two main routes from Riyadh to Hail for tourists

The Transport General Authority has announced that travelers driving from Riyadh to Hail can choose between two main routes, each differing in distance, travel time, and the towns they pass through. This initiative aims to provide more options for road users and support tourism growth.

According to the authority, the first and fastest route starts in Riyadh and passes through Al-Zulfi, Buraidah, and Al-Shanan before reaching Hail. This route covers approximately 620 kilometers and takes about six hours to complete. The second route goes through Al-Muzahimiyah, Shaqra, and Al-Nabhaniyah, stretching around 731 kilometers and requiring about eight hours of travel.

The authority also noted that the Kingdom's road network, which now extends over 73,000 kilometers, has helped Saudi Arabia achieve the top global ranking for road network connectivity, according to the Global Competitiveness Forum. This development has strengthened links between cities and governorates and improved services for road users.

Hail: a comprehensive tourist destination

The authority highlighted that Hail boasts a modern road network spanning more than 5,566 kilometers, making it easier for visitors and tourists to access its historical and natural landmarks and explore its rich cultural heritage.

Located in northwestern Saudi Arabia, Hail's strategic position made it a historic stop along ancient trade routes and the Iraqi pilgrimage route known as the Darb Zubaydah. The region features UNESCO-listed rock art sites in Jubbah and Shuwaymis, as well as natural attractions such as the Aja and Salma mountains and part of the vast Nafud desert.

Hail serves as a vital link between northern, central, and western Saudi Arabia, attracting visitors during various seasons and events. The region is also known for its economic activity in agriculture, food production, logistics, and mining.
